To commemorate the month long celebration of black history, the IFE-ILE Dance Company presents “Tribute to the Waters.” The event showcases an evening of music, art, and dance in praise of Ochun, the goddess of love and fertility; and Yemaya, the goddess of the sea. “Based on the Afro Cuban Santería predictions, Ochun rules 2006 for Cubans in both Cuba and Miami,” says IFE-ILE artistic director Neri Torres. “What better way to celebrate this unusual fact than through our own rich black heritage of dance, music, and traditions?” Beginning tonight at 7:00 at Molina Art Gallery, happenings include the colorful art of Cuban Luis Molina and a brief lecture about Santería predictions. “And like all Cuban events, we close with a rumba,” adds Torres.
