Sweat moves into bigger digs

Published on September 27, 2007

Early in its life Sweat Records faced trying circumstances that would have crushed a business of lesser tenacity and vision. Hurricane Wilma in 2005 destroyed the indie music store’s home, which led to a two-year residence in a warehouse at the back of Churchill’s Pub. During this time, Sweat regained momentum. Now owner Lolo Reskin and her gang of audiophiles are hauling their goodies to a new location on NE Second Avenue. Don’t worry, it’s still next to Churchill’s.

The reinvigorated store will sport more of a coffeehouse ambiance and boast plenty of new features. Support Sweat’s move tonight at the Farewell to the Warehouse party at Churchill’s. Almost everything in the store will be on sale. After stocking up on albums, check out performances by DJ PG-13, Sketchy, Black Diamond Heavies, and others. The event begins at 10:00 p.m., and admission is eight bucks. Call 305-575-1807, or visit www.sweatrecordsmiami.com.
