If you’re dreaming of a white Christmas, you’re plum out of luck. However, if you have visions of hayrides and popcorn dancing through your holiday thoughts, then the Christmas Celebration at Continental Park is just what you need. With a fire truck bearing Santa Claus (forget the sleigh -- so 2006), a festive movie screened in the park, and free hayrides to view the decorations adorning the neighboring streets, this party is not to be missed.

For just two bucks, kids can have their picture professionally snapped with Saint Nick (or for free, courtesy of a parent’s camera) while refreshments like hot dogs and baked goods will be sold to benefit the Continental Park’s program for teens. You’re invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets to relax picnic-style while enjoying the activities. Admission is free. The fiesta will run from 6:30 to 9:30 tonight.
Fri., Dec. 14, 6:30-9:30 p.m., 2007
