Another Reason to Run
Published on July 17, 2008 at 3:01am
For fitness, for fun, or just because you can there are so many reasons to lace sneakers on your feet and get out into the sunshine for some exercise. Heres an even better one: for charity. One of the most popular marathons is looking for a few good Miamians to participate in a truly righteous cause. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Societys Team in Training (TNT) program will hold meetings around town this month, with the goal of inspiring tired, lazy, and athletically challenged people, like you and me, to get off their duffs and gear up for some cool destination marathons.
Who would have thought walking or running for charity would lead you to Orlando for the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, or to Arizona for the P.F. Chang's Rock 'n' Roll Arizona Marathon? The prospect of travel might get you there, but the friendships youll make and the support youll be giving to the cause will keep your energy flying high. Meet your new teammates at 7 p.m. at Niketown in the Shops at Sunset Place. Call 954-744-5312, or visit www.teamintraining.org/sfl.
