In New York City, the gospel brunch at Sylvias in Harlem is legendary. People of all creeds and races come out for a weekly dose of soul food and singing, and even a cretin such as Bill OReilly cant help but admit theres a sprinkling of magic and brotherly love in the air. Having experienced the rare joy that a heaping helping of collard greens can bring when served with a song, weve been wondering: Where are the gospel brunches here in Miami? Now we have an answer! At Joley Restaurant in Hotel Astor, the Inspirational Brunch series offers spirituality and spirits every Sunday in April.
Acclaimed songstress Maryel Epps will croon to your hearts content while you tuck into a $44 prix fixe brunch, complete with shared appetizers, a spread of main courses including a jumbo lump crab omelet and buttermilk pancakes, and a complimentary mimosa. Get yourself some religion (and a side dish of cheddar cheese grits) today from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 305-534-3343 for reservations.
Sundays, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Starts: April 13. Continues through April 27, 2008
